Frequently Asked Questions
Do you ship the boxes?
No. We don't ship. We personally deliver every box to your student's place of residence. No carriers, no tracking anxiety, no porch pirates.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver to University of Michigan students in Ann Arbor. When you order, you pick your student's building from a list. If their address isn't on the list, choose "Other address in the delivery area" and enter it.
Our delivery zone boundaries are:
- North: E. Huron Street. Orders north of Huron Street are outside our zone.
- South: Packard Street. Orders south of Packard Street are outside our zone.
- West: S. State Street. Orders west of State Street entering downtown are outside our zone.
- East: Oxford Road / Washtenaw Avenue. Orders east of this intersection are outside our zone.
The full building list is on our delivery area page.
When do I need to order by?
Julie hand-delivers every box herself, so we deliver on set dates rather than every day. You pick the date you want when you order.
Order by September 12th, for delivery September 20th.
Once a cut-off has passed, that date stops showing as an option, so you can only ever pick a date we can actually make.
These dates are for the Welcome Box, for the start of the school year. The Finals Survival Kit will run on its own set dates, announced when it opens. The Birthday and Holiday boxes are different: you pick whatever date suits, and Julie confirms it with you.
If you need a box for a particular day or occasion, get in touch. We are just getting started and Julie will do her best to make it work.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, free of charge up to that delivery date's order cutoff. After the cutoff the food is bought and the box is packed by hand, so we can't cancel or refund, but we can still change the gift message, student name, building or room number right up to delivery day.
If something arrives damaged or wrong, contact us within 7 days with a photo and we'll replace or refund that item. Full detail is on our policies page.
What if my student isn't there when you deliver?
If the student is unavailable to receive the package day of delivery, it will be left at the front desk of the dorm/residence or designated package delivery area.
That's why we ask for your student's phone number at checkout, we let them know we're on the way.
Do you deliver on football Saturdays?
No, we are not delivering on Michigan home football Saturdays. Those dates are blocked out and won't appear as delivery options.
Can I choose the flavors?
Yes, either way. "Let us curate it all for you" is selected by default, we pick the choices and send. If you'd rather choose, flip the toggle on the product page and pick each one yourself. Anything you leave unset, we'll pick for you.
Can you build a custom box?
Yes. If none of the boxes quite fit, tell us what you are picturing and Julie will put something together. Send a custom request with the occasion, the day you need it and what you would love inside.
She sources from local makers and small businesses she knows, then emails you a price. Nothing is charged until you say yes, and she needs about a week to pull it together. Custom boxes start at $100.
Is there a delivery fee?
No. Delivery is included in the price of the box. There is no shipping line at checkout.
The one exception is the local gift card add-on, which carries a $5 concierge fee for us to go pick the card up for you. That's shown before you check out.
How is the box presented?
It's a gift, not a shipper. Each box is a market box packed with crinkle paper and tissue paper, finished with a bow and cellophane, a sticker, and a handwritten card carrying your message.
Do you include a note?
Yes. Each box includes a handwritten note with your personal message. You type it when you order, and Julie writes it out by hand on a card. You add your message on the product page when you order.
What about allergies?
Boxes include items containing peanuts, tree nuts, milk, wheat, egg and soy, among others, and they are packed by hand alongside each other, so we cannot guarantee a box is free from any particular allergen.
There is an optional allergies and notes field on the product page and we work around what you tell us. If the allergy is serious, email dormdasha2@gmail.com before you order and Julie will go through the box with you. Full detail is on our policies page.
