Dorm Dash started with one simple idea: college students deserve to feel remembered, celebrated, and cared for, even from hundreds of miles away.

Hello! My name is Julie.

My husband and I live in Saline, Michigan, just outside of Ann Arbor, with our four children. Our oldest is a junior in college, and our triplets are heading into their senior year of high school, which means, before we know it, we will have four kids in college.

I always wanted to be that mom who sent the care packages and perfectly curated little surprises for my oldest while she was away at school, but as a full-time teacher with three others at home, life was busy.

Time passes quickly, and finding the time to thoughtfully put together those packages wasn't always easy.

Where our oldest was attending school, there was not much available that felt personal and special. Luckily, there were two wonderful moms who served the community with some amazing offerings.

Our daughter and her friends were having a difficult time. We had just lost my mom, and one of her friends had recently lost her beloved puppy. I reached out to those two moms, and they showed up in the sweetest way. They brought desserts and their golden retriever to spend time with the girls, and simply gave them a reason to smile.

It meant more than I ever could have imagined.

That was two years ago, and I have not stopped thinking about it since.

I wanted to create something that could bring that same feeling to students at the University of Michigan - a little reminder from home, a reason to smile, or something special waiting for them when they need it most.

With three kids soon heading off to college, I figured this was the perfect time to finally make it happen.

Dorm Dash was created with that simple idea in mind: to make your student feel remembered, celebrated, and cared for, even when they are miles from home.

Whether it is a welcome box, a birthday surprise, a holiday treat, a finals survival kit, or just a little thinking-of-you moment, I hope Dorm Dash brings your student some joy while they are at their home away from home and brings you a little peace and warmth, too.
